CFK's Child Sponsorship program seeks to provide children in Chad with an education that leads to employment through programs that enrich their personal self-esteem and places children on the road to success. The Bethesda Center, our local partner, empowers young people to better care for themselves and gives children the tools to become the catalyst for positive change in their own communities.

All of CFK's children are boys that reside in N'Djamena and at the initial point of sponsorship live in the streets of the big market place in the center of the city. As a treatment plan is developed and children engage in the program, host families are identified and children are given the skills to succeed in today's Chadian context. The role of our sponsors is to encourage and strengthen the work that the child has undertaken. When a child finds out he has been sponsored, the joy he feels is indescribable. Just knowing that someone across the globe cares means more than you can imagine.

Sponsoring a child profoundly changes the future for your child and will change you in the process.

Our Commitment to Our Sponsors:

Poverty can make children believe that they don't matter. The relationship between a sponsor and child can play a key role in helping that child overcome the sense of learned helplessness that poverty creates. The more sponsors connect with children in need, the more children learn that they are loved and that they do matter.

As a new sponsor, you'll receive your child's photo and his personal story.  Every 6 months you will receive information about your child and the progress he has made with his education. Beyond your monthly donation, you can connect with your sponsored child as often as you would like through letter writing and special gifts. Visiting your sponsored child is also a life changing experience, but because Chad is an unstable country, a visit to your sponsored child is not recommended.

Your Commitment to Your Child:

A child sponsor is someone who has made the decision to personally invest in the life of a child in need. With your commitment of $32 a month, you enable your sponsored child to participate in a program that offers life-changing benefits including help with:

• Education
• Health care
• Social skills development
• Christian education

And more than this, you can help your sponsored child develop a sense of confidence and self-worth with the love you express through your letters and prayers. The child you sponsor will know your name, write to you and benefit directly from your monthly sponsorship. Your relationship with your sponsored child makes you a very important person who has a significant role in his or her development. You stand alongside parents, pastors, teachers, family and friends who are taking an active role in encouraging and developing the child.

CFK is a 501(c) 3 non-profit organization and your charitable donation to CFK's Child Sponsorship Program is tax-deductible. CFK’s overhead child sponsorship cost is $2/month (this is used to cover the cost of banking fees, postage…).

If your circumstances change you can cancel your child sponsorship at any time and CFK will immediately look for a new sponsor for your child.
